Nissan Repair: Nissan Sentra 1997 A/C Electrical Issues?, nissan sentra, electrical issues

Question
I seem to have all sorts of odd electrical issues all at once, suggesting that they're related, although a mechanic has told me that they are not (but he also couldn't fix it, but he replaced a battery cable).
These issues have been happening for a couple weeks, but just recently my "check engine light" also went on (solid).

The radio occasionally blinks off when the Air Conditioning is adjusted, the car jerks a little when AC is adjusted while driving, headlights dim when AC is adjusted, and the AC fan does not operate in "1" "2" or "3" settings but works when in full blast on "4".

Also, the shifter lights don't illuminate (Drive Reverse etc).

Are these separate issues, or is there one underlying issue?

Many thanks for any advice you can give!

Answer
Danielle,

Yes, some are seperate issues.

Go to Autozone and get the codes read for free on the MIL light to see what is wrong with the car.  Then, correct the problem with that.

I would be looking at checking the compressor if it is dragging the system down when it is turned on and adjusted.  The compressor could be going bad and as it binds up it slows the engine down enough to make the car jerk.

The Shift light is just a matter of taking the cover off and replacing the bulb.

The blower fan has a resistor box that the switch controls and this needs to be replaced.  The resistor block is under the dash on the passenger side.  All you would have to do is buy a new one and when you look under the dash you will see it.  Just unplug the old one and unscrew it and replace it with the new one.
