Nissan Repair: Nissan 200SX starter removal, 1995 nissan 200sx, nissan 200sx

Question
My 1995 Nissan 200SX starter is going bad.  I've replaced starters on other cars, but this one is under the intake manifold.  I put it up on jackstands, but I can't reach the upper mounting bolt and I'm not even sure there's space to get it out without removing the axle or exhaust pipe.  Do you think major disassembly is required, beyond maybe removing the oil filter?  What about the brace under the intake manifold?  I'm trying to decide if this a job I can do at home with a few wrenches, or will have to spend $400 take it in.

Thanks for any advice,

Dan

Answer
Dan,

Yes it is a pain in the butt to replace.  I have done it from the top with the removal of the intake brace and other parts in the general area.  YOur choice here is you want to remove a lot of stuff to get access to it.  But, I went in from the top when I have done them.
