Nissan Repair: Brake and battery indicator lights on, nissan sentra xe, nissan sentra

Question
Sir,
I have a 1992 Nissan Sentra XE 1.6 with approx 226,000 miles. Both the brake and battery indicator lights stay on constantly. The battery is new and the alternator has been found to be operating fine. Is there a reason for these two lights to stay on?

Answer
Cool Breeze,

Check the wires from the battery to see if the fuses and wires are good.  If the alternator is putting out the correct voltage I would be loking at a defective wire feeding the battery light.  The brake light could be related or you could just have a parking brake that is out of adjustment.  Check to see if the parking brake is all the way off and if it is set the contact switch to see if the brake light goes out.
