Nissan Repair: 87 Nissan Pulsar NX SE Axle shaft, nissan pulsar nx, 87 nissan pulsar

I have the driver's side axle out and trying to replace it, but am having difficulty pushing the axle in past the retaining clip.  There is nothing to push or tap on to insert it other than the rotor end of the shaft, which will likely damage the CV joint.  Is there a trick I'm missing?

Paul, first rotate the shaft and try again, and if that does not work get a block of wood and a dead blow hammer and tap it lightly in place.  You did get some transmission fluid and lube the end and clip before you inserted it?  All it takes is a little lube when you install them.  But, if all else fails use the block of wood, like a 2X4 and a hammer and you should be able to get it in.
