Answer
James,

A 300ZX ABS unit will last for ten to twenty years.  The life is based on how often the brake fluid is changed and if the car is driven in places where they use salt on the road.  If you have less than 50K on the car you are doing good.  I would flush the fluid with Ford High Performance Brake Fluid.  It is DOT3 and has twice the boiling point of regular fluid.  You should bleed the brake system once every other year.  This will keep the fluid clean and eliminate contamination that would corrode you system from the inside.  Remember that brake fluid is hygroscopic.  That means that it has no water in it.  Well, after months and years of operation the fluid attracts water out of the air and that water is heavier than brake fluid.  So, the water goes to the bottom of the system and that is at your brakes at all four wheels.  This allows the water to corrode your calipers.  Also, when te brakes get hot the water turns to steam and your brakes become soft.  When this happens the ABS cannot work properly and it freaks out and you get the ABS light.  So, flush the brakes every two years.
