Nissan Repair: 1986 Nissan Maxima, nissan maxima, cooling fans

Question
What does injector cooling fan do

(1)fan runs for long time after very short trip

(2) is there a sensor involved?

(3) where is it located

Answer
Irving,

Supposedly, when they came out with fuel injection Nissan felt that it was required to blow air across the injectors to keep them cool.  I suppose they thought it would vapor lock if they did not keep the system at a certain temperature.  Well, none of the new products have cooling fans on them.  But, when I had a couple of old 280Z cars I kept mine intact just to make sure...  The system uses a temperature sensor on the engine.  There are three and one runs the fans, one runs the gauge and one runs the computer.
