Nissan Repair: 97 Nissan Pathfinder wont start. Has power, neutral safety switch, nissan pathfinder

Question
I have a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder that will not start. When i turn the key there is power, all lights come up on dash, radio and A/C power up fine. The starter will not crank at all. I've let it sit for a few days then I try to crank it and it starts up, seems like it will work randomly but as soon as i trun off the ignition it will not crank up again even thought there is sufficient power. Could this possibly be a relay? I've checked all the relays under the hood and the ones under the dash located at the fuse box, they all seem to click fine when i trun the ignition key on.
The problem seems to be like when you try to start a car and it's not in park.

Answer
The neutral safety switch on the shifter is probably going out.  When you attempt to start it move the shifter into park and hold it there and the car should start.  The switch is easy to replace but it is expensive.  Something like $100 dollars.  Checkout rockauto.com and see if they can save you some money on your purchase.
