Nissan Repair: 1988 Nissan Sentra is Stalling, air intake hose, nissan sentra

When I shift from any gear to neutral, my car stalls.  

When the engine is idle, the rpms continue to move up and down while spuddering.

I'm not sure if this car has a fuel injection or carborator.  Can you help?

Sounds like the air intake hose is torn between the air meter and the throttle body.  Check the hose with the car at idle and wiggle the hose and if it is cracked the car should die.  If this is the case replace the hose.  You can tape it up until you get a hose but the hose should be replaced.  This is the large black hose that comes from the engine to the air filter box.
