Nissan Repair: 95 Maxima Rear Caliper, rear caliper, performance brake

Question
Need to rebuild rear calipers. One is leaking at 165K miles.

Answer
To choices here.  If you live in the North where they use salt on the roads go for rebuilt units.  If you live where there is little salt used on the roads they should not be too rusted up.  Go with a Nissan seal kit and take yours apart and clean the parts up.  Then reassemble with Ford High Performance Brake Fluid.  Use the pads of your preference.  I like Nissan since they work well with the car and do not make noise or too much dust.  Then reinstall all the parts and bleed the system starting with the right rear and then left rear and then the front right and finally the drivers side front.  Keep fluid in the system and check it after bleeding the air out of each line.  bet a block of wood, before you start, and place it under the brake pedal before you begin the process.  Do not have someone press the brake pedal to the floor as this will trash your master cylinder and you will end up replacing it if they do.  So, get something that will limit the travel of the pedal beyond where you normally press it.
