Nissan Repair: Suspension & Electrical, halogen bulbs, nissan pathfinder

Question
92 Nissan Pathfinder

1)  How often is it recommended to change the springs and struts on the vehicle?

2)  I have changed the right headlight bulb twice already, each only lasting about 1 year.  Do you think that there is some electrical problem?

Answer
There is no real time limit on suspension parts.  When the vehicle starts to bounce and you notice that the suspension is loose it is time to change the struts and shocks.  Make sure that you do not touch the bulb when you replace it.  Halogen bulbs fail rapidly if the oil from your skin gets on the bulb.   I like to use cotton gloves to change bulbs to avoid this.  No, I do not think it is the car that is causing the bulbs to burn out.  Also, if the headlight assembly leaks water it will cause the bulb to fail.
