Nissan Repair: engine swap, nissan 240sx, flexplate

I'm thinking about buying a 1993 nissan 240sx and doing an engine swap.  My brother will do this but we're both not sure about something:

If the SX I buy is originally automatic and the front clip is with the manual transmission, will this ever work out?

If the engines are from the same year, or close, you can swap the parts off the automatic onto the manual engine and it should work out.  You just have to keep all the parts that go to the engine that was in the car and put them on the replacement engine.  I have done this and have had to change out the flexplate and the manifolds.  It was time consuming but it is easy to do.
