Nissan Repair: Failure to start, nissan quest, intake hose

Question
I have a 1996 Nissan Quest. I have been using it all day. I went to start it and it turns over but wont start. I checked all of the engine fuses and they are all good. All the lights are bright and working well. Thank you

Answer
Do you know if you have fuel getting to the engine?  You can turn the ignition to the on position and have someone listen at the rear of the van for the sound that the fuel pump makes when it activates.  If this is working I would be looking for something like a bad coil or if the spark plugs are too old.  When was the last time a tuneup was done on the van?  When the engine is attempting to start does it sound like it wants to start?  Remember that this is fuel injected and you do not have to press the gas pedal as this will screw with the computer in the start sequence.  You can get some starting fluid and take the intake hose loose at the throttle body, with the engine off, and open the throttle plate and give is a short spray of starting fluid.  Then, put the hose back on, the car will not run without the intake hose being connected as the air meter will not allow it.  Then, with the hose connected, get in and start the car.  If it starts and stays running you probably have bad plugs and wires.
