Nissan Repair: 1997 Nissan Sentra will not start, nissan sentra, nissian

Question
97 Nissian Sentra will not start. Problem started with a dragging starter, which I replaced along with a new battery and new plugs. I checked and found that the timing was ok and the spark plugs are getting fire along with gas. When trying to start the vehicle it turns but no sign of even trying to start not even coughing or backfiring.  I sprayed starting fluid and it wanted to start, but did not.  Help!!!!

Answer
Check the fuses first and see if any blew when the battery was low.  Too much of a load and the fuel pump fuse or electronic ignition fuses could have blown.  Also, check the fuseable links at the positive battery.  These look like little wires that connect to the battery cable.  Also, there are some with a couple of large fuses there too.  If all of these are good the next thing to check is to see if the car has jumped timing.  Take the inspection cover off the top of the timing belt and bump the car over to top dead center.  If the timing marks are on TDC the pointer at the top of the cam should line up with the point.  If this is off the car has jumped timing and the belt will have to be replaced.  Those are the two options you have.  Let me know how you do on this.
