Question -
I ahve a 91 nissan stanza and i had to replace the top sprocket for the timing chain. Now i cant get it back into place.  Is there a way to loosen and tighten the chain without removing the timing cover?
Answer -
The cover will have to come off unless you have enough strength to get the sprocket over the cam.  Problem is the timing has probably already been moved unless you were very careful when you did the remove and attempt to install.  The chain tensioner and follower are probably worn and the chain is almost at the end of its life so it would be best to remove the cover.

Answer
Not bad and it is just time consuming.  Take the alternator bracket off and related goodies that block access tot he cover and of course you have to take the balancer off.  To me this is the hardest part.  If you do not have air tools find someone that does so you can borrow them.  Otherwise it is a pain in the rear to get the balancer bolt out.  other than that it is just the time taking it apart and cleaning the mating surfaces off for the new seals.
