Nissan Repair: installing alt. 97 sentra, serpentine belt, pully

Question
I am trying to replace the alternator 97 sentra 1.6 man. great car. I dont know how to adjust the serpentine belt once I replace the alternator. The tension pulley seems to be part of it, but I cant find a adjusting screw there. Question is how to adjust the belt once the alternator is installed. last one I did, I used a crowbar on the alt. but i guess things have changed.  THANKS A LOT Chuck in Vegas.

Answer
Chuck,

It's pretty much all the same.  You may have to use your crowbar again.  If it doesn't tighten it.

Where the ALT is located, look for your A/C compressor (on the bottom right hand side)

under the A/C compress to the left.  THERE should be a PULLY, on the bottom on the PULLY is a NUT.  This should be your adjustment.

There should be ONE (1) bolt.

This will also adjust your belt.

HOPE this helps.

GOOD luck
