Nissan Repair: My 1997 Altima, minor tune, car roll

Question
1. My altima (100,000+ miles and manuel), which I haven't much trouble out of,  seems a little weak in power when I stop.  The rpm goes down for 2 seconds like the car is about to cut off but it soon redeems itself.  What does this mean?

2.  I have had my tires on my car mounted and balance a month ago but it shakes when I get to 75mph.  I know I need some new axles does this shake have anything to do with axles?

3. Whats the purpose of axles?

4. My A/C will only fuction properly when at level 1 and 2.  If I put it on 3 and 4 it start making a noise (like a skipping sound), sligtly jerks the car, and it goes in and out of its cooling.  Freon was put in it in June.  What the deal, I hope not a compressor?

Answer
Vab,

1.  * If it has never had a tune up I would give it a through tune up.  I could be just  a minor tune up along with a fuel filter (a must) this could be clogged.

2.  ~ It's possible, yes.  But all in all check the tire rods and control arms, along with your alignment.  Which the poblem could be a simple as an alignment.

3.  ^ Purpose of axles: is to hold on your wheels, brakes, (it holds the entire front end up)  when the car is in gear the axle is turning which makes the car roll.

4.  # This could be a combo of things:

Your High and Low switch could be fualty.
or
Yes, the compressor is bad.
Or
the clutch on the compressor is going bad.

Thanks about all I can give on these four.

Good luck.
