Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 1999 olds alero v6 gls, olds alero, speed sensors

Question
QUESTION: The abs and traction off light have been coming on for a while now but I don't really feel any problems with the brakes and have been stopping fine.Nothing big but getting sick of the bells when I start up,Thanks!

ANSWER: Hi
Best advice would be to take it and have the ABS system scanned for codes (DTC's). Alot of nationwide repair shops and nation wide Auto parts stores offer free scanning to retrieve codes.
If after you get codes and would like assistance on diagnosis and possible causes, follow post back.
I hope this helps

QUESTION: Funny you say that,I took it in today and found out it is the speed sensors.Do you think I shouls just buy a couple of them(about $25 a piece)or do you think that if they are corroded I can just clean them up in a solvent tank?

Answer
Hi
For 25.00 a piece I'd at LEAST but the one. You could buy 2 and have a spare, just in case.
Chances are it's not corrosion. but they are open (open circuit) or high resistance.
Keep in mind also on these vehicles, the speed sensor harnesses have been known to create problems.
I Hope this helps
