Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: shaking when accelerating at ~40mph, torque converter, trans work

Question
park avenue 2001, 3.8V6. 96000 ml.
It runs very well until recently, it started to shake at about 35-45 mph when I push the pedal.

typically, when I push the accelerating pedal steadily from 0, it will smoothly go up to over 50mph with slightly pausing when it change gears. But when the speed is between 35-45 mph, if I release the pedal, then when I push it again, I notice the shaking. It feels like the car is pausing very quickly. The speed will not go up. Release the accelerating pedal, shaking stopped. If I push the pedal slowly, it will not shake and the speed goes up.
The shaking seems disappeared if I Change the gear from "D" to "3" .
what kind of problem it can be?
a bad torque converter or a bad clutch in the transmission is my guess. No sure

Btw, No warning light on the panel.

Answer
Hi
I would HIGHLY recommend taking it to a good repair shop and having it diagnosed.
If they advice it could be a transmission problem, I would then take it to a GOOD transmission shop.
The TCC (Torque Converter)will shudder on ALL vehicles. It is usually not noticable due to line pressure regulation.
In other words any vehicle could shudder at any time.
Has any trans work been done lately, or at all?
If so, possible low fluid level?
I would also really consider having a GOOD major tune up done. Plugs, wires, fuel filter air filter etc... Have all the coil towers checked for corrosion.
Thats my advice.
I hopeit helps and I hope you get it repaired.
Good Luck
