Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: heater controller, competent mechanic, diagnostic fee

I have a 99 park avenue with auto temp control.  The temp controller appears to be on the fritz.  The display will blink temps, sometimes locks up.  The heater does not blow hot, only warm and only on the drivers side.  The passenger side is always the same temp, cool.  Do I need to change the controller or is it a fuse or something else?

I would try this little trick first...
Unhook the battery, both cables. Then touch the 2 cables together away from the battery.Keep them together fro about 30 seconds.
Then reattach the POSITIVE cable first. Then the negative.
Check the system.
If it works, it was Logic locked.
If not... You will PROBABALLY need a control head.
I would, though, before I sunk the money into a control head, spend a diagnostic fee and have the system checked by a good competent mechanic.
