Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 93 Cutlass Ciera S, cutlass ciera, throttle position sensor

Question
I have a '93 Cutlass Ciera S, and up until this point it has been running fine.  Today, as I was coming to a stop, my car stalled, and wouldn't start again.  So, my boyfriend(a boat mechanic) checked the air and fuel filters, and they were fine, then the fuel intake, and found that the fuel injector had died.  So he removed the gas tank and put a new injector in. After priming it a few times, the car ran fine in idle, but once you put it into gear, it would sputter and backfire. It won't accelerate when you hit the gas, it just sputters, but it idles fine.  I was wondering if it could possibly be that he needs to bleed fuel lines, and how that should be done, or if it could be something else.
I'd really appreciate any suggestions you may have.
Thanks,
Carly

Answer
Well, the injector isn't in the gas tank, but the fuel pump is. I assume that is what he changed. No bleeding necessary.
I also assume he replaced it with the correct one.
I would test the fuel pressure, and make sure the pressure regulator isn't bad.
The throttle position sensor will also cause those symptoms. But test it before replacing it.
