Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 99 olds silhouette starts but dies, crank pulley, crank sensor

Question
I have a 99 olds silhouette 3800 v6 it will start and idle when i try to drive it will die, i did replace the crank sensor that is located on the back of side of the block, it did run ok for about 2 weeks after replacing, it has started doing the same thing again, it sounds like a misfire or backfire through the throttle body the check engine light is not on and has never been on this entire time, 2 repair shops have scanned both are unable to tell me what is wrong, there is another crank sensor located behind the crank pulley i am not sure if i should replace it or should i replace the cam sensor.  Thanks for your help!!

Answer
Hi
I cannot tell you what to do, but I will say the Crank Sensor behind the pulley DOES cause this problem more so than the cam sensor.
The cam sensor controls fuel injector pulses.
The vehicle CAN run without the Cam sensor. It MAY not start, but it can run.
The Crank sensor controls fire. It will cause no start and stalling.
I Hope this info helps.
Good Luck
