Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 1999 Olds Aurora, rodent infestation, olds aurora

Question
Hi, I have a 1999 Olds Aurora, with a V8 engine and auto transmission, with 127,000 miles. I went over seas this summer, and left the car with my parents. When I got back, my car had the check engine light on. I looked under the hood to see if there was any visual defects. I found a mouse nest in between the manifold and the plastic covering. I cleaned out the nest and washed it all up. The engine light was still on. I did not notice any preformance loss at all, nor was the engine acting up in any way. So, I took the car to auto zone, and had them run a diagnosic. They said that it was the Knock sensor that was triping the engine light. So, in the mean time, the engine light turned off. But the thing is- the light turns back on when ever the RPM is above 3. I am clueless. Maybe the mouse chewed a wire and......? The NAPPA techs. said that they would pull off the manifold, and look for any chewed wires- but it would cose me $200 for thme just to look. What are your thoughts? The car runs like it did when I bought it.

Thank You!
-James

Answer
Hi
I would think if it was a P0327 It MAY be a severed wire.
That is the low voltage code. It MAY also be a faulty sensor.
They should be able to check sensor and under manifold harness by using proper GM diagnostics. Should take 15 mins at the most. It is an 11 step diagnosis procedure.
If it was or is one of the other KS codes, again, proper diagnostics should lead to at least a general fault.
Since rodent infestation MAY be a cause, that SHOULD help in checking wires.
It is a single wire circuit. very simple.
I Hope this helps.
Good Luck
