Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 99 Park Ave 3.8L non super..., gm dealerships, sound amplifier

Question
Hello,
Our car has a clunk/click in the left rear when going over rought terrain. I do the brakes etc, but have seen nothing else wrong there. Can the struts be making this noise and if so, any suggestions on what to get since these are electronically controlled ride stability and I saw Parts america doesn't list them, so maybe they are dealer only? Thanks alot.

Answer
Hi
It may be the strut it may be the strut mount.
Any of the rear suspension arms/linkages also could make
clunking noise.
Those struts will be rather pricy. I would take it to a shop that has access to a "Chassis Ear"which is a tool using clips and a sound amplifier and headphones to pinpoint locations of noises.
ALL GM dealerships SHOULD have one.
SOME good frame or alignment shops will also have them.
The real trick is finding a good Tech who can use them.
It will though save ALOT of $$$$ by finding exact location.
I do hope this helps.
Good Luck
