Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: starting problem on olds 2000 intrigue, black widow security, oldsmobile intrigue

Question
QUESTION: sometime my car will not start.2000 oldsmobile intrigue, I turn the Key the lights on the dash light up but the starter doesnt turn over nothing. I have had the starter, battery tested and everything tested good. I had the lock cylinder & keys replaced and the electrical igition switch under the dash. but it still does it. also a aftermarket security system has been put in the car before I bought it. it is a black widow security system. some people say that is it . some say no . whats your findings

ANSWER: Hi
I will say, if it is the factory Theft deterrent system, the "security" or "theft" light on the dash will either flash, or stay on steady.
Does the purple wire going to the Starter Solonoid power up when the key is turned to start position?
If not that is your problem. You can check that wire from the ignition switch and follow it. If it goes into the  aftermarket security module, check it before and after the module. This can eliminate the aftermarket system.
I hope this kinda helps.
If more help, follow post back.

QUESTION: the aftermarket system can be disconnected right? where is it usely located?

Answer
Hi
Getting into areas I really do not deal with.
Anything can be removed, thats for sure. The module for aftermarkets are USUALLY located on the drivers side to the left of the steering column, OR in close proximity to the ignition switch.
Be cautious about ripping it out. Sometimes they are wired to kill car if not properly removed.
My BEST advice would be to either find the module, and get the model number or something for your exact system, and remove it using opposite from installation instructions.
Thats the way I do it when confronted with same problems.
USUALLY you can just eliminate the module from the Purple solonoid wire (it is yellow from the ignition switch, and changes to purple)It is a ignition switch circuit so it is alot larger than the other wires.
I hope this helps.
