Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette no spark, oldsmobile silhouette, crankshaft sensor

Question
My 99 Silhouette Premier is a 3.4L V6 (VIN code E) I just replaced the head gasket and was putting everything back together and have noticed two things- 1: there is no wire to fit the plug on the back side of the coil pack on the drivers side. If you're looking at the coil pack on the drivers side there are two plugs, front to back. I have a plug for the front one, but not the back one, and all the plugs on the wiring harness are in their homes, so I'm confused on that one. I have a 2 book mechanic manual for the thing and it doesn't say a word about this plug so I'm wondering if there was even one on there to begin with??

Secondly, now that everything is back together with lots and lots of new parts (including plugs/wires/alternator, etc.) all the power works, but the engine won't fire, it just rolls and rolls. I'm at a loss where to begin troubleshooting - any ideas??
Neither the mechanic manual or the owner manual says anything about doing a computer reset after an oil change, so I don't know if one is needed or how to do it if it is.

Thank you for your time,

Christina

Answer
Hi
Same problem is causing your condition.
The wire missing is for the 7X crankshaft sensor.
It is a purple wire  and yellow wire. It is located in center of engine, on the firewall side of engine. 2 wire connector. It runs up the back of engine (drivers side) and wire SHOULD attach around the same area as the water pipe/fuel line mounting area on that rear head.
It is lying down there somewheres.
Without the 7X sensor the vehicle WILL NOT fire.
You'll find it...... just look around down there.
To reset the Oil light key on engine off and within 5 seconds depress the accelerator pedal 3 times all the way to floor.
key on/1.2.3. that fast. it may blink, may not. But it'll go out.
Good Luck
Hope this helps.
