Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 1999 Olds Aurora - bad flasher unit?, turn signal switch, olds aurora

Question
Thanks for reading this.  For the last six months, occasionally I would hear my "turn signal clicker" without ever activating the turn signal.  Then the other day, when I click the turn signal, it sticks (the turn signal comes on, but does not flash).  Both left and right...however, starting yesterday the left one doesn't light up.  I purchased a 12v flasher unit, removed the underside of the steering wheel dash, removed what HAS to be the old flasher (looks just like the new one) and plugged in the new one.  Symptoms are still the same (no blinking turn signal, on dash the right turn arrow stays constant, but the left turn arrow does not light up).  Not sure what to do!  Thanks for your advice!!!

Answer
Hi
It really sounds like you have a faulty Turn signal switch (aka Multi function switch).
This sounds like the classic symptons of one failing.
I do not know the cost. It should still be availble.
I would suggest, though, taking it to a good shop your familiar with and having it diagnosed for sure.
I do hope this helps.
Good luck
