Question

Answer
Hi
Here is the EXACT GM procedure. Note the Tool Number listed in step 3, is a large round prying rod. I am sure you MAY be able to use a large screwdriver or similar pipe.
1) Support the rear compartment lid in the fully up position.
2)Ensure the torque rod is properly positioned across the vehicle at the pivot points.
3)Use the J 41358-A in order to install the torque rod to the adjustment notch on the hinge.
4)Inspect the operating effort.
As necessary, adjust the torque rod by completing the following steps:

4.1.  Open the rear compartment lid.

4.2.  Position the end of the torque rod on the hinge as necessary.

  •  Moving the torque rod to a lower notch on the hinge increases the effort in raising the lid, but decreases the effort in closing the lid.

  •  Moving the torque rod to a higher notch on the hinge decreases the effort in raising the lid, but increases the effort in closing the lid.
