Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 97 Oldsmobile Aurora, oldsmobile aurora, weekend car

Question
2 weeks ago had fuel sensor placed and ever since car would crank over and over when cold. Took about 4 times before car would turn over. Then over weekend car just would not start. Dealership is now telling us our niece needs a fuel pump. The fuel tank had to be removed to replace the fuel sensor correct? is there a possibility the fuel pump was damaged by dealer when replacing fuel sensor? Just paid them $762.00 and now they want $824.00 plus tax to replace fuel pump. Please advise. Thank you.

Answer
Hi Robin,

Sure, it is possible.
It amazes me they didn't suggest replacement of the pump while it was out.

As a matter of fact, they normally replace the sender and pump as a unit. Ask them if they didn't.

It is also possible the ground wire didn't get reconnected properly.
