Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: olds silhouette, crankshaft position sensor, inertia switch

Question
yeserday while travelling dowm the highway a peice of asphalt came loose under the fan. in knocked around and the fan sputtered to a stop. No leaking fluid though it did dent the fuel tank. local mechanic came and had a look tested the fuel pump it appears there is no power going to the pump. is there an inertia switch and where would it be located. Any idea or suggestions????

Answer
Hi Mel,
No inertia switch on a GM.
May have knocked a wire loose, possibly at the crankshaft position sensor.

Could also have damaged the pump through the dent, but if that were the case, it should still show power, although keep in mind, the power will only go to the pump for two seconds, unless the engine is cranking or running.

The asphault could also have cut the fuel pump power wire along the frame.
