Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: AC blows hot air on driver’s side and cold air on passengers side., automatic climate control, temperature variation

Question
I have a 2001 Buick La Sabre, no work has been done on the car lately. The AC has been working great until the other day it just started blowing hot air on the drive's side and cold on the passengers side. Were do I start? Never had this type of trouble before.

Answer
Hi
I am assuming you have Automatic Climate control, and you have passenger side adjustment control.
If not please follow post back.
First and biggest aid will be to have the HVAC system scanned for codes.
You can usually get this done at most repiar shops for either a very small charge or free.
Any codes will assist in diagnosis.
If no codes there is a VERY long service procedure for Temperature Variation Between Driver and Passenger Outlets.
I will Gladly post it here for you if you want. But it does take into consideration you have a scan tool.
Looks like a simple cntrol circuit.
I have run into this problem a few times. It is USUALLY the side that is hot, has an Air Temperature actuator located on the respective side of the HVAC case that is faulty.
I have had 2 that the air temp sensor for the hot side was at fault. Each side has 2 sensors and They are located in the air ducts for the respective side. If one of those are bad, it will create this problem.
I would really guess it is the air temp actuator.
I will stress though, again, take it somewhere and have the HVAC system scanned. Get the code. Follow post back.
I hope this helps.
Good luck
