Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 95 Park Ave water in no 3 cylinder, buick park ave, head gaskets

Question
Hi Ihave a 95 Buick Park Ave witgh the 3.8. Its ran rough intermitenly for 2-3 months. Its also lost very little wtaer during this time. It ran fine one day when i parked it, the next day when i went to start it it wouldnt turn over i removed spark plugs and cranked and water came out of no3. My questuion is does chevy have a problem with head gaskets or intake gaskets on these engines? Can i replace the gaskets or do you recomend having my head magnafluxed for cracks?

Answer
Hi Andrew,
Head gaskets and intake gaskets both could be the problem.
A compression test might help isolate it, or compressed air connected to the spark plug hole.
If bubbles come through the radiator, a head gasket is leaking.
If not, I would suspect the intake gasket.

If you didn't run it hard and low on coolant, I wouldn't have the heads magnafluxed, unless you just want to do a valve job also, in which case, some exchange rebuilt heads may be the way to go.
