Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 2001 oldsmobile alero, oldsmobile alero, olds alero

I have a 2001 olds alero, that the security light keeps coming on and sometimes it will start then shut off, I found out how to bypass it temporalily by turing the key to the on position for ten minutes or until the security light stops flashing, but how do I fix it permantly?? Is there a wire i can cut, or a fuse to pull???

Hi
The BEST advice I can give is to replace the PAsslock Sensor and key cylinder. They come as one part number when purchased from GM.
It is not the most diffucult thing to replace, but I would not recommend doing it if in doubt.
Also make sure if you do it, and if a shop does it, MAKE sure they replace and code the new key cylinder as it is an important part of the new passlock sensor.
