Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 92 Cutlass 3.1 V6 FWD Fuel Problem, vehicle stalls, pressure tester

Question
Greetings and thx in advance for your assist.
When car is cold and igition turned on, fuel pump noise is made at normal levels and stops properly so pump is working and car starts without problem. When hot, vehicle stalls and fuel pump noise is much louder.  I leave key on to repressureize the fuel system and car starts again no prob.  Few minutes later, the car stalls again - pumping gently on the accellerator pedal sometimes keeps the car running.  Here is an odd thing - my fuel tank is completely full, but at about 60 miles driven, this prob occurs as if I'm out of gas.  Topping off the tank seems to help "sometimes".
Is it possible for a fuel pump to not pressurize the system properly after it is warm?  I was thinking that perhaps there is a leak somewhere high up on the fuel pump unit that may be allowing air instead of fuel to be pumped?  Is there a sump on the unit?  I have not dropped the tank as it's a major job and wish your opinion before taking drastic action.

Answer
The high leak is for sure a possibility.
Wouldn't pump air, but it would allow fuel to spray out inside the tank, rather than pressurize the injectors properly.
I'd connect a fuel pressure tester, and make sure the pressure is up to specs.

It is also possible trash inside the tank is sucking up against the sock, restricting flow. When it is shut off, the trash falls away, and is then drawn up slowly again.
