Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 1997 oldsmobile achieva, oldsmobile achieva, achieva

Question
We ran our 1997 oldsmobile achieva out of gas and now we have put gas in the tank-about 3 gallons of gas to be exact and now the car starts and dies we can hear the fuel pump coming on but cant understand why the car keeps dying. We really dont know what to do at this point and everyone we call just says bring it in and we dont want to spend a ton of money if we can fix it ourselves.

Hi Jennifer,
Put some more gas in it first, and try again.
Turn the key to run....not start....several times, leaving it in run for three seconds. Then off for a few seconds, then back to run for three seconds.
That should bleed any air out of the system.
Then crank it.
