Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 92 Oldsmobile Stalls, cutlass ciera, vacuum leak

Question
Van,
Me and my wallet are hoping you can help me with this.
My problem is I went out to start my wifes Cutlass Ciera the other morning, and it ran real rough sometimes stalling. As soon as you put it in gear it stalls. I have changed spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, and three pieces of hosing going from the canister to the throttle. But nothing has helped it.

Answer
Hello Ken,
Two things I can think of right off.
First, a vacuum leak.
Any chance a rodent chewed a vacuum hose.
Another possibility is the egr valve, if it is sitting on a piece of carbon, that will act like a vacuum leak. It can, and should occasionally be removed and cleaned, but I would connect a vacuum guage first and see what it says in this instance.

Second is fuel pressure. When you changed the filter, did you happen to notice if there was any water in the gas, and do you live up north where water could freeze in the system?
But proper fuel pressure is a must.
Autozone will probably loan you a fuel pressure tester on their loan-a-tool program.

Go to www.autozone.com and enter your vehicle information, and browse thru the repair info.
