Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: car problems, car problems, steering column

Question
place the key in the ignition swith to turn the car on, it want stay in the run spot it just turn off,

Answer
Hello carolyn,
The key tumbler operates a lever in the steering column, that pushes a rod on the side of the column, and the rod operates the ignition switch, which is mounted down on the side, or top of the column, about above the drivers knees.
The switch is mounted with slotted holes and is adjustable.
It sounds like it has moved a little, and the spring loaded part of the switch, that pushes it out of "start", may be pushing it back.
Another possibility is if the tilt joint in the steering column is real loose, which could do the same thing.
