Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: HIGH VOLTS reading in 92 olds 88 royale LS, volt regulator, wire connections

Question
I keep getting a high volts reading in my car and when I look into the computerized menu it reads out that there is 20 volts going through the lines. I've replaced the alternator twice and notice when the reading is on, the transmision acts weird where I need to push the gas much harder to get the same speed. My main question is, where's the volt regulator/sensor to the car? Because unless I received two bad alternators, it's on on there. Please assist me, I asked Jeff the same thing three days ago with no response.

Answer
Hello Corey,
The voltage regulator is inside that alternator.
It is possible that a corroded or loose connection along the output wire from the alternator to the battery might be causing some resistance, forcing the alternator to put out more, but if you get the alternators from Auto Zone, or a similar store, it is possible to get two bad ones.
I would sure check some wire connections though. Especially at the battery.
