Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 1996 Olds Aurora, fuel pressure regulator, olds aurora

Question
The car will stall when driving. Not when comming to a stop. almost like it is not getting gas. Then if it sits a little while it will start. I just filled it up and am trying to see if it stalls with a full tank. The last time I noticed a stall the tank was less than 1/4. My son has driven for the last 2 days without a stall with full tank    -------------------------

Car stalls with out warning. If you let it sit it will restart. Sometimes it will stall again right away, other times you can drive. Fuel rail recall was completed. Just had fuel pressure regulator replaced. Any Ideas?

Answer
I would have to go with possibly a failing fuel pump in the fuel tank or the rubber hose that connects the pump to the fuel pickup tube in tthe gas tank is loose and sucking air when the fuel level gets below the level of the pump and tube.

The fuel is what keeps the pump cool and when the fuel is low the pump is not being cooled and has a tendency to overheat and slow down thus low fuel volume and pressure.

What you need to do is put a fuel gage on the fuel rail and tape it to the outside of the windshiled when the fuel gets low and drive it while watching the pump pressure.
