Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 1989 cutlus ceiara 3.3 ltr, wifes car, air control valve

Hey Van dont bother the racing its motorcross and the boys are 11 12 years and i know nothing about motorcyclestoo ha ha. My wifes car has new plug wires new plugs and i replaced a coil that was bad a few week ago now last week the car started running rough and will die. when it dies it will spit back and blow off a small vacum lin on top the moter iv sprayed wd 40 all over the engin lookig for a vacum leak but to no luck or i was told that wd40 will cause the car to high idle if there is a leak?please help if you can thank you and if you need more info i will be as helpful as possable. we did just buy the car it was in a garage stored for 2 years we have had it for 3 months we had to replace the trans after 4 days it was a 1 onwer with the origanal keys and key chain. even all the reciepts to every thing that has ever been done to it i felt it had been a well kept car. it has 220.000 miles the timing chain was replaced at 160.000 and just small things after that acording to the reciepts alt, shocks belts, things like that thanks again

Hello Billy,
There are two things I would clean.
One is the Idle Air Control valve, on the throttle body. Don't even need to remove it usually, just some carb/PCV valve spray, but removing it and cleaning it is easy also.

The other thing is the egr valve. if the pintle sits down on a piece of carbon or rust, it doesn't seal, and acts like a vacuum leak, till it opens later, and hopefully the carbon blows on out.
It is something that is supposed to be cleaned occasionally.
I have heard of gaskets with a screen in them to keep the carbon flakes out of the seat.
