Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 2000 olds intrigue starting prob, fuel regulator, fuel pump

Question
Hi, I have a 2000 intrigue that I just got back from the shop (it has 62000 mi) and had the fuel filter and fuel regulator replaced.  The car still seems to have a starting issue.  Sometimes it cranks long on the first try, so I turn the key again, then it starts right up.  I've never replaced the plugs or wires, but it seems to run great once its started, it cranks fine too. No codes. Any ideas?

Answer
Hello Ej,
I would just guess that it is the fuel pump pressurizing the system for that first start.
Try something when you think about it. Insert the key and just turn it to run for about three seconds, then off, then back on for a second and then on to crank, and see if it starts right up then.
That sounds like a lot, but really it can be done while you buckle the belt, and if it works for you, is about as cheap as it gets, and causes less cranking on the starter.
All it is doing is giving the fuel pump a chance to get the pressure built where it needs to be.
