Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: crankshaft harmonic balancer retaining bolt, crankshaft position sensor, olds cutlass ciera

Question
this is a 1991 olds cutlass ciera 3.3L v6. i need to get the retaining bolt off to change the crankshaft position sensor. I tried heating the bolt, impact wrench. Won't budge.  that bolt removes counter clockwise or clockwise?  thanks in advance for your help.

Answer
Hello Jesse,
I don't know from experience, and every manual I have near that age model just says to remove the bolt, with no mention of direction.
Usually if something is left hand threads, there are warnings and notes.
I don't happen to have a 91 Cutlass manual, but you could read one, and make some copies of pages at the public library, refference section.

Also, the crankshaft position sensors I was able to read about were back along the lower edge of the block, about half way back.
A hall effect sensor is mounted near the damper, but I don't know if the damper needs removed to replace it.
Have you done some tests that indicate you need a crankshaft position sensor, or is it visibly damaged?
