Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: Transmission Fluid....maybe, oldsmobile eighty eight, vacuum leak

Question
I have a '91 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight.
On it's last leg. After having the transmission fluid changed, the car just fell apart. I can hardly get it to idle much less drive it down my driveway.

We took it to a repair shop "transmission overhaul" was the suggestion at $1500. The car is maybe worth $800.

I need to get this thing to the dealership on saturday (jan 28th '06) to trade it in.

Finally my question.....can there be to much transmission fluid?

Sometimes when I start the car it jumps and sputters like it's got hydrolics or something. Then sometimes it starts up beautifully, I put it in revers role slowly down my driveway, put it in gear and it all but throws me through the windshield. It took 30 minutes for it to start again and get it back in the driveway.

I could really use your help, I have little money and all I want is to get this stupid thing to the dealer and get my new car!!!!!

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer
Hi K,
Since the problem started after a tranny fluid change, I would certainly check the fluid level several times, and make sure it is at the proper level, but sounds to me like you might have an engine problem, like the EGR valve sticking open, or a vacuum leak.

There could be too much fluid, but as to weather it would cause those symptoms is hard to say.
