Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 87 cutlass cruiser, fuel flow, o ring

Question
I have an 87 cutlass cruiser, 2.8 v-6.
Engine turns over, doesn't catch-doesn't even cough! Smelled fuel and it was coming out of the air intake! Let it dry out for a day and a half, tried to start and same thing. opened butterfly with my fingers and gas is POURING out.
What the HECK is going on?

Answer
Hello Dominick,
87 is just when things were shifting from carburetors to fuel injection, and you didn't mention what yours has.
If it has a carb, then the float is apparently stuck, or there is some trash in the needle and seat, not allowing the fuel flow to be shut off.
If it is fuel injection, then an o ring or gasket in the throttle body is leaking.
Either one can be repaired fairly easily. You will probably just need a repair kit.
