Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: RE: Power Windows, oldsmobile 98, fuse block

Question
I have a 1990 Oldsmobile 98 Regency all 4 power windows operate fine when going down but if they are lowered all the way they are very hard to get back up. I usually have to wait a few minutes after switching off the ignition and then they will go back up sluggish. Do you think the problem could be in the relay or the ignition switch. I do not know where to locate the relay.

Answer
Hi Pat,
I don't think there is a relay for all the windows. The only relay is for the auto down function of the drivers window.
There is a circuit breaker, I believe, and a connection on it could be loose, or a connection on the drivers door switch. Circuit breaker should be on the fuse block.
Make sure the battery connections are clean, and check the voltage.
I am surprised that shutting the ignition off helps. I would expect them to operate better with the engine running, due to the higher voltage with the alternator running.
