Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 90 Olds Cutlas fuel pump, dash flashes, digital dash

Question
I have a 90' Cutlas, 3.1 multi-port, I purchased from a private party. Supossedly, The fuel pump was replaced, but it wouldn't start so we had a different mechanic put in another one, along with a new relay. The mechanic said the relay showed some signs of arching, so he replaced that too. The car ran great for about 4 days. I went to start it after work on the 4th day and I didn't hear the fuel pump kick in. I waited a few minutes and it kicked in and started right up as usual. I went about 2 miles and it died. It will not restart. I have check the fuses and the connections seem to be OK. Also, the digital dash flashes on and off. Sometimes it stays on for a few minutes, and sometimes a few seconds. I guess it has been doing that for a while according to the previous owners. I don't know if that's related or a whole separate issue. Any advice or help would be very much appreciated.

Answer
Hi Chuck,
It sounds like a loose connection to me, and could be any one of several places.
I would of course start with the bettery, then the fusible links.
The connector through the firewall, and the ignition switch are close behind.
The ignition switch isn't under the steering wheel, but is actually down on the steering column, above the brake pedal.
Somewhere, just a loose connection could be causing it all.
