Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: Fuel Leak, autohelp, fuel rail

Question
1996 Aurora - 108,000 miles
Hoping you can offer some advice.
I have a fuel leak in the nylon return line just upstream of the quick connect that joins the line with the fuel rail. Took it to the dealer with the fuel rail recall but was told that its not covered. Quoted me $700 to replace all the lines. What a guy.
As far as I can see the only piece that needs to be replaced is the black tube running from the rail to the steel tube at the firewall. The part number on the tube is GM6264. Can't find anything on the web.

Is it possible to replace this section of line with a generic fuel hose and clamps.  As it is the return and not the feed is it under low pressure only?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Answer
You can, but it is highly UNRECOMMENDED.

Why don't you order the correct part and put it on yourself ?.

Make some calls around to Aurora dealers, I am sure somebody has one.

You could also take the vehicle to a repair facility that makes hoses for highway equipment or construction equipment as I have done many times when a part such as this was unavailable and they have the tools to make you one.
