Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 1998 olds 88 delta brougham, electric fuel pump, fuel injection cleaner

Question
I am having problems when my fuel gauge gets to 1/4 tank. the car will sputter and stall. I have remedied this by using fuel injection cleaner, but at times this does not work. I have been told to change the fuel filter -but can not find it. I have got varied answers to its location, but can not locate it. If you have an answer it would be greatly appreciated.

thank you

Answer
The filters are usually mounted under the vehicle on the inside of the frame rail near the rear tire. You will have to crawl under the vehicle to find it.

I doubt that this is your problem. It is more likely that the fuel meter in the tank is intermittently faulty and or there is a problem with the rubber hose that attaches the electric fuel pump to the fuel pickup tube may be loose or leaking thus sucking air instead of fuel when the fuel level gets near this possible loose hose connection.

In either case, You will have to remove the fuel tank from the vehicle and inspect and test the components.
