I have a 98 Buick Regal I was wondering what it would take to change the brake pads on my own and meanwhile tightening whatever is lose that causes a ticking sound when I am driving but only when my foot is not on the brake.
Thank you!
Answer -
Hello Eliezer,
Changing the pads is really not hard at all, and the process would probably also fix the ticking.
It is possible you may need the rotors turned, but removing them isn't even all that hard. Just block it up, remove the caliper retaining bolts, remove the caliper, and you are right there.
When squeezing the piston back into the caliper to make room for the new pads, I recommend opening the bleeder screw, and while keeping the bleeder screw up at the highest point, squeeze the piston in and push the fluid out, rather than pushing the dirty fluid back through the antilock brake system.

Answer
Hi again, Eliezer,
I really recommend that you have something to look at, like a Motors, or Chilton manual, or even a Haynes manual.
You can look at them at the public library.
I am sure there are sites on line with some pictures also, but I have manuals, so I haven't looked for those sites.
Google would be a good place to start.
