Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: air conditioner, refrigerent, vacuum pump

i have a 95 olds cutless v6,3.1 lt. i'm trying
to recharge the refrigerent and compresser won't
come on. is there something i should be doing to
turn it on or should the pressure in the can be able to.

Answer
The pressure in the can shouls start to cycle the compressor ON and OFF.

However, If you have AIR in the A/C system you will NOT be able to get enough freon in the system to do you any good.

You will need to use a vacuum pump to remove the air from the A/C system and then recharge the system.

Hopefully you do NOT have a LEAK in theA/C system or the freon will slowly leak out and you will be constantly adding freon.
