Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: eng. idles ruff, wont start, pvc valve, noid light

Question
Tom I replaced the quad 4 in my sons car 2yrs. ago. While he was away on military duty I had a new exhaust installed. After a few days driving it started shaking on the way home. I noticed smoke coming from under it so I checked it out, the cat. conv. was cherry red. I've replaced the plug wires, had the coils check, replaced the crank pos. sen. I unpluged the # 2,3 injector, and it died. i did #1 and it had no effect on the eng. so I replaced that inj. That wasn't it so I bought a noid light and ck, ok. Comp. good on all cyl.
Quad 4 has an oil heater system rather than a pvc valve. I was getting fusterated and i shock that elec. conn. to that heater and it started running right for a few sec. I unplugged it, and it had no effect. Could this this be causing my problem ? Help!! Thanks

Answer
That could very well be your problem. However in most cases such as yours the problem when an engine is replaced is usually PINCHED WIRES so you need to check EVERY wiring harness and every wire for being pinched or shorted.

If NOT shorted the next likely cause is the INJECTOR DRIVERS in the computer have failed and this is usually againn caused by a previous or current pinched wire.
